What I proof

Three ways to hand off the last read.

Every job gets the same meticulous eye — typos, wrong words, missing or misplaced punctuation, and formatting. You choose the format that fits how you work.

i.

PDF & ASCII proofing

Send your final draft as a PDF or an ASCII (.txt) file — whichever you prefer. I'll mark it up clean, catching what a quick self-read always misses when you're the one who wrote it.

From$0.50/page
ii.

CAT proofing

Proofing built for your workflow. Same trained eye, formatted so corrections drop neatly back into your CAT software with less busywork for you.

From$0.50/page
iii.

Full audio proofing

The gold standard for high-stakes jobs. I proof against the audio, word for word, so nothing slips past on the record when it matters most.

From$1.25/page
The fine print you'll love

A clean read, and a few things I won't charge extra for.

No surprises: I don't charge extra for pages with more than 25 lines, for technical or video work, or for the occasional messy job. Send me your final draft — well-researched, no steno, nice and clean — and I'll take it from there.

The proofreader

Hi, I'm Lana.

I studied English and Linguistics because I've always been a little obsessed with readability — the kind where nothing trips the reader and every line lands exactly as it was spoken. For more than twelve years I've put that eye to work for court reporters, proofing final drafts so they go out polished, professional, and error-free.

My work is grounded in the standards your field trusts. I'm well-versed in Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters and the grammar-and-punctuation work of Margie Wakeman Wells, so your transcript doesn't just read clean — it holds up to the guidelines court reporters are held to.

Your work is demanding enough. Think of me as your quiet last set of eyes — the safety net that lets you send the record with confidence, so you can focus on the more important work only you can do.

"Nothing should stand between the words and the reader — least of all a typo."

How we'll work together

Policies, plainly stated.

Clear expectations make for smooth jobs. Here's exactly how I proof and how billing works.

Proofreading The work

  • 01Please submit transcripts as a final draft. As a proofreader I check for typos, wrong words, missing or wrong punctuation, and formatting errors — so the file should have no steno, be well-researched, and very clean.
  • 02I don't charge extra for files with more than 25 lines per page, for technical or video work, or for the occasional messy job.
  • 03For jobs over 200 pages, I may need to extend turnaround depending on my schedule. If you know a large job is coming, send me the page count and your timing ahead of time and I'll confirm my availability.

Business & billing The details

  • 01Turnaround times are based on business days. I do work weekends as needed — just not as part of standard turnaround. Need a job back over the weekend? Contact me and I can usually make it happen.
  • 02Payment by Zelle, Venmo, or Stripe. Returning clients are billed on the 1st and 15th, due within 15 days.
  • 03A 10% fee applies to late payments. No new jobs are started while a payment is 30 days past due.
  • 04One-off jobs for new clients are billed immediately, due within 7 days.
